Fashion house Advisory Board Crystals and Honor The Gift, Oklahoma City Thunder basketball player Russell Westbrook’s own visionary label, teamed up to create a t-shirt inspired by the power of creativity in the lives of inner-city students. LA-based artist Jonas Wood also lent his iconic basketball imagery to the collaboration. 100% of the proceeds of this project will be donated to Inner-City Arts, and the shirts sold out on both sites within the first half hour of release.
Before the public launch of these special edition t-shirts, Russell Westbrook, Advisory Board Crystals (Abc.), and Honor The Gift visited Inner-City Arts to surprise students with their very own t-shirts! 6th graders from Dr. Julian Nava Learning Academy packed our theater for their spring culmination — showcasing the projects and performances they have been working on this past session. Before the showcase ended, Russell Westbrook took the stage to surprise the students and took the time to answer questions about his creative process and his all-star basketball career.

One student asked Russell for advice on behalf of his sisters who deeply love basketball while another student asked how he balances his training and his passion for design and art.
“If you want to be a designer, if you want to be an artist, if you want to be anything in life, it’s important that you stay true to yourself and believe that you can do whatever you want to do at any level because if you believe, nobody else can do what you do,” said Russell.
