05:30 pm - 08:30 pm
Participate in a drawing session led by London-based artist Catherine Goodman on the occasion of ‘Catherine Goodman. New Works’ her first exhibition in Los Angeles opening 27 February at Hauser & Wirth Downtown LA.
Developed as part of the Drawing from Film program at The Royal Drawing School, participants are invited to call for the film to be paused at any given still to complete fast-paced drawings in semi-darkness. These playful interactions offer new ways of looking and are an opportunity to see through the cinematographer’s point of view.
This session in Los Angeles will feature the film ‘Paris, Texas’ (1984) directed by Wim Wenders (2h 25 min). The film documents the travels of Travis Henderson, an aimless drifter who has been missing for four years, who wanders out of the desert and must reconnect with society, himself and his family.
Goodman will offer a viewing of her exhibition for workshop participants in advance of its opening date. The viewing will begin at 5.30 pm and the workshop will follow at 6 pm.
The film has an MPAA rating of R. The workshop will be 18+; no minors are allowed. All drawing abilities are welcomed. If people have their own materials, they are welcome to bring them, but it is not necessary as some drawing materials will be provided.
All workshop fee proceeds will be donated to Inner-City Arts. Participants can reach info@hauserwirth.com and inquire about our accessible pricing options. Seating is limited, RSVP is required.
